Pandora

Here is a video from the game Pandora – First Contact by Proxy Studios. We have been working together since 2012 and this is an example of sound design that was made for one of their cut scenes.

Creating sounds for a setting in space is interesting. The realistic approach would be to have no sound at all, no air – no sound, but somehow that wouldn’t satisfy our expectations. Dead silence can be creepy in its own way, but when we see a big room or space we also subconsciously want to hear it, or we are not going to believe it. In this case the immersion that is added from the fake sound far outweighs the unrealism of it. A good example of the magic of sound.
